Pricing and governance

deepface.dev uses usage-based pricing with governance around throughput, concurrency, and queue behavior.

Free calls and your balance

Full accounts receive 50 completed calls per UTC calendar month. An active saved card adds 50, for 100 total. Free calls are used before your balance, including when the wallet is funded. Saving a card does not enable automatic top-ups. Invalid requests and service failures do not use the allowance. Completed processing, including a no-face result or a non-match, counts as a call.

Standard request prices

Standard image requests start at $2 per 1,000 calls. This covers verification, embeddings and photo-to-vector checks. A photo compared with saved vectors is one image call, without an extra vector-comparison charge. Vector-only requests start at $0.20 per 1,000 vector pairs. A request comparing one source vector with ten target vectors counts as ten pairs. Prices decrease smoothly with your account’s calls over the last 30 UTC calendar days, including today. The minimum standard rate is $1 per 1,000 image calls** or **$0.10 per 1,000 vector pairs, after all discounts. There is no image-size price multiplier; the existing image and request-size limits still apply. Priority processing costs twice the discounted standard price. Monthly invoice contracts keep their agreed rates. The final charge and tariff version are recorded with each completed request; accepted quotes stay fixed across retries.

What is governed today

  • Request rate limits
  • Queue depth and queue timeout
  • Concurrency limits
  • Rolling-usage-aware pricing logic in the gateway

What customers should expect

  • Self-serve account access and dashboard-managed API keys.
  • Public docs that explain endpoint behavior and constraints.
  • Enterprise throughput, dedicated capacity, and SLA discussions still happen directly with the deepface.dev team.
  • Production changes that affect pricing are reflected in the API changelog and OpenAPI source before rollout.

Auto top-up discount

Paid wallets with active auto top-up and a valid saved card receive up to 20% off. The discount lowers the starting rate; volume discounts then ease towards the same final minimum. At one million calls, image requests cost approximately $1.10 per 1,000, or $1.06 with auto top-up. Disabling auto top-up or revoking the card removes this benefit for new requests. Already accepted quotes do not change. Account rate tiers depend on lifetime wallet funding, not on the number of API calls or the current balance.
